Finally!

The Jaywalkers are done. They are the larger size (84 CO) and on gianormous needles -- US 2.5s. They really are huge but they fit my big ol' man-feet just right. I used Claudia Handpainted 100% merino in Ingrid's Blues. Hizzah!

Weekend knits

Tony has finally finished his first sock! He'd doing Jaywalkers in Regia. He's doing the smaller size on size us3. The foot is nearly 12 inches long and he still has a good 20 yards of yarn left from the first ball.

You may (or may not) remember that I bought some Claudia in Ingrid's Blues with which to make myself a pair of Jaywalkers back at the end of December. Well, I cast on for the larger size on US1s without bothering to gauge it first.

I made a sock that was too small for most children. And it took more than one skein for one sock -- that fabric was so tight it could have stopped bullets. I was so disappointed in the darn thing that I never started the second. I mean, what's the point if I (nor anyone else) could wear it?

Well, last week, I frogged the entire thing and rewound it into a nice yarn-cake (thanks Emma and your faboo ball winder). Why waste good yarn? Especially yarn that I love. I cast on again with Knitpicks "US2s" (also known as US2.5s to the rest of us) and I'm getting much better results this time.

This round is going much faster. I am almost through the heel-flap in just two days. The last one took two weeks just to make one tiny sock. Ahh, the endless lessons in gauge.
